This project is a motion piece created to capture the essence of a NASA poster that I thought had such a beautiful story to it. This video uses various elements of the Mars poster from NASA's "Visions of the Future" collection. It reinterprets the style and branding of the poster in a time based format, utilizing parallax and depth in order to seem as if the viewer is travelling to different historical sites in Mars.
The poster was made as if we already colonized mars and now we are having historical tours looking back at the tech and buildings we used as Martian pioneers. The idea of having art that represents a speculative future gives the audience a positive outlook on things to come and a feeling of hope, which I emphasized with a fun and bright music score.
I used the bright and clean colour scheme and the interesting geometric shapes of the poster to create various structures and landscapes that I have interpreted as various possible locations that may act as historical sites in the future of Mars. I also wanted the typography to feel as if they were in and a part of the landscape.
This project was created in after effects using the 3D camera and playing with the depths of the objects. I wanted it to feel similar to the poster so I kept a lot of the shapes sharp and geometric.
