Open for Business is a book that highlights Toronto’s popular independent music venues and the importance they hold in the cities rich culture.
Through exploring the vast histories of Toronto’s iconic venues as how they once stood and how they stand today, Open For Business captures some of Toronto’s music institutions in their most natural state. The book was made by documenting venues such as Sneaky Dee’s and Lee’s Palace entirely on a disposable camera, in high-contrast black and white photography. It was my goal to go to as many shows at as many venues to detail my experience while weaving it with a historical telling of stories, events and moments at these clubs. Open For Business aims to highlight and celebrate the venues that brings Toronto together.
Open For Business is printed on grey photo paper, and hardcover bound with a screen printed cover.
