Rep Culture is a self ethnographic book containing all my weight lifting workouts from 2016 - 2019. The main idea behind the book is to illustrate the constant repetitive nature of the sport. All it takes it is putting in the reps.
The book has its own custom book case/sleeve which is made out of concrete and acts as a pair of weights. The bookcase weighs 15lbs in total and can split into two pieces once the resistance bands are removed. That being said, more editions can be added to case since it is modular.
The theme of the book is heavily influenced by grunge design with a minimalist approach. The book contains my own handwriting, which is paired with a bold slab serif typeface called “College”.
The interior of the book is filled with scanned images of my workout journals. Alongside the scans are commentary tidbits that reflect on my workouts. Pains, personal records, changes in the body are all expressed within the commentaries.
