This travel magazine is for Seoul, Korea, my second home. Inside you are able to find tons of information on history, food, shopping, etc, and reading through this magazine will feel as if you had already travelled there. It is recommended you give a quick read before you start your travels, to make sure you know what to expect once you get there. Safe travels!
Although Seoul comes in several issues, the issue I decided to move with forward with and design the full magazine, is the Summer issue. I wanted to aim for a modern and clean design for the cover, as the inside of the magazine is quite packed with content. The clean type and minimal use of colour work well together to create a sleek and strong design.
The spreads are organized into information about Seoul (history, language, etc), restaurants, cafes, attractions, fashion, music, and shopping. I wanted to make this project very personal, so I made sure to add in my personal favourites for restaurants and cafes. There are not much illustrations in this magazine, because I was going for a professional and mature feel. The images also play a role in adding some bright colours and vibrance to the spreads. I wanted to make sure the magazine is easy to read and go through, as I assume it would be carried on-the-go while people are travelling. I believe simplicity and clarity is important for a magazine with such information and content!
These are a couple images I took of my magazine! As you can see, there is not much colour and overly-exciting use of design. The magazine is very "calm" and simple. It is clear what each page is about, and the images blend in with the rest of the page. I hope that this magazine attracts more people to travel to Seoul, as there sure is a lot to do there!
